If you find that you are going to haul your deer through rough
terrain, with rocks, brush, or other obstructions, it will help
if you place both front legs together and then bring them
forward, up near to the nose of the deer. I usually do it this
way. First, tie your towrope around the neck (doe) or horns,
(buck). Then bring it down and tie a half hitch around the nose
(be sure to have it high enough so it won't slip off) and then
tie the legs together, using the same rope, and tie another half
hitch around the nose of the deer. Next: Cut a small stick about
an inch in diameter, and a foot long. Tie the towing end of the
rope to the center of the stick. Hold the stick with both hands
(one person) or one on each side (two persons) will make hauling
on the rope a lot easier. Using this method keeps the front feet
from catching on obstructions and the head and feet will rise
slightly off from the ground as you apply pressure on the
towrope. |
